Medium Plastic UV Treated Fire Extinguisher Cabinet 4.5kg
$110.00
Medium UV treated heavy duty plastic fire extinguisher cabinet for 4.5kg extinguishers. Protects against UV, weather, and impact. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Note: replacement perspex windows are not available for this model.
Description
The medium plastic fire extinguisher cabinet is a heavy-duty UV-treated enclosure for extinguishers up to 4.5kg — providing weather-resistant protection for outdoor, semi-exposed, and coastal installations where a steel cabinet would corrode. Made from impact-resistant UV-stabilised plastic with a red finish that won’t fade or peel under direct sunlight. Wall-mount design keeps the extinguisher off the floor and clearly visible.
Suitable for outdoor walls, car parks, construction sites, coastal buildings, and any location where UV exposure or weather is a factor. For indoor use, the steel break-glass cabinet may be more appropriate where a tamper-resistant enclosure is required.

Compliance & Servicing
Fire extinguisher cabinets must allow the extinguisher to be clearly visible and readily accessible in accordance with AS 2444. Inspect the cabinet at each 6-monthly AS 1851 service to confirm it is securely mounted, the extinguisher is correctly seated, and the cabinet is clearly marked with a fire extinguisher location sign. Replace the cabinet if the plastic becomes brittle, cracked, or the UV stabilisation is visibly degraded.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where Medium Plastic Cabinets Are Used
- Outdoor walls and building exteriors
- Car parks and covered parking areas
- Coastal buildings and marine environments
- Construction sites and temporary facilities
- Industrial outdoor areas and plant yards
- Any location with direct UV exposure or weather
What’s the difference between the medium plastic and medium steel fire extinguisher cabinet?
The key differences are weather resistance and tamper protection. The plastic cabinet is UV-stabilised and will not rust — making it the right choice for outdoor, coastal, and exposed locations. The steel cabinet has a break-glass lock that provides tamper resistance and is better suited to indoor commercial premises where theft or tampering is a concern. For outdoor use, the plastic cabinet is strongly preferred. For indoor use in a commercial building, the steel break-glass cabinet is the standard specification. Both suit extinguishers up to 4.5kg.
What size extinguisher fits in this cabinet?
The medium plastic cabinet (W290 × D255 × H700mm) fits extinguishers up to 4.5kg — including 1kg, 1.5kg, 2kg, 2.5kg, and 4.5kg ABE, CO2, wet chemical, and water portables. It will not accommodate a 9kg ABE or equivalent. For a 9kg unit, see the large plastic cabinet (W317 × D265 × H825mm). If you are unsure whether your extinguisher model will fit, contact us with the model name and we can confirm dimensions.
Is this cabinet lockable?
This model does not include a lock — it is a protective enclosure rather than a security cabinet. The door is designed to be quickly and easily opened in an emergency without needing a key. If tamper resistance is required (for example, in a public-facing location where the extinguisher might be interfered with), consider the steel break-glass cabinet instead. For outdoor locations where weather protection rather than security is the priority, the unlocked plastic cabinet is the appropriate choice.
Can the perspex window panel be replaced if it breaks?
No — replacement perspex windows are not available for this cabinet model. If the viewing panel is damaged, the entire cabinet will need to be replaced. For locations where vandalism or accidental damage to the viewing panel is a risk, consider whether a solid-door cabinet or an alternative mounting solution better suits the environment.
How is the plastic cabinet mounted?
The cabinet mounts to a wall using the pre-drilled holes on the back panel. Use appropriate fixings for the wall material — masonry anchors for concrete or brick, self-tapping screws for metal structures, or coach screws into timber. Mount at a height where the extinguisher handle is at approximately shoulder to head height (1.5–1.8m from the floor) and clearly visible from the main approach direction, as required under AS 2444. Ensure the cabinet is level and all fixing points are secure before loading the extinguisher.
