Replacement hardware for fire extinguisher vehicle brackets. Restores full function to your existing bracket without replacing the entire unit.
Fire extinguisher vehicle brackets keep your extinguisher securely mounted and instantly accessible — ready to grab in seconds when it matters most. Whether you’re fitting out a car, ute, truck, caravan, boat, tractor, or forklift, there’s a bracket to suit every application.
We stock a full range of styles to suit extinguishers from 1kg to 9kg:
All brackets are designed for quick-release access so your extinguisher can be removed immediately in an emergency. Replacement straps, buckles, and hardware are also available so you can keep your existing bracket in service rather than replacing the whole unit.
Match the bracket to your extinguisher size. Most vehicle brackets are rated for a specific extinguisher weight — 2.5kg, 4.5kg, or 9kg. A bracket designed for a 4.5kg unit won’t hold a 9kg extinguisher securely. Check the product listing before ordering and match it to the weight printed on your extinguisher.
Choose your finish based on environment. Powder coated steel is the standard choice for most vehicles — it’s durable, looks clean, and handles normal outdoor conditions well. If the bracket will be exposed to salt air, constant moisture, or a marine environment, go galvanised or maritime aluminium instead. Salt and humidity will corrode standard powder coat over time.
Consider your mounting space. Heavy duty and cannon style brackets bolt to a flat surface and hold the extinguisher rigid — ideal for bull bars, trays, and cab walls where you have clear mounting room. If space is tight or you need to fit around a contour, rubber strap and double strap brackets are far more forgiving and don’t require drilling into the vehicle body.
In Australia, fire extinguishers are mandatory in some vehicle categories — including heavy vehicles over 4.5 tonnes GVM, buses, and certain commercial and mining vehicles under relevant workplace health and safety regulations. For private passenger vehicles, caravans, and recreational boats, it’s not legally required in most states but is strongly recommended. Check with your state’s road transport or WHS authority for the rules that apply to your situation.
For most private cars, utes, and caravans, a 1kg or 2kg ABE extinguisher is the minimum recommended — small enough to store easily, sufficient for an engine bay or small cabin fire. For 4WDs, campervans, boats, and commercial vehicles, a 2.5kg or 4.5kg ABE gives you more capacity without taking up much more space. Trucks and heavy machinery typically carry a 9kg unit. See our fire extinguisher range for the full selection.
Powder coated brackets are finished with a baked-on paint coating — tough and corrosion resistant in normal conditions, but can deteriorate when exposed to salt water or prolonged moisture. Galvanised brackets are zinc-coated through a hot-dip process that provides deeper corrosion protection, making them a better choice for boats, trailers, coastal vehicles, and agricultural equipment. Maritime aluminium brackets offer the highest corrosion resistance of all — they won’t rust at all.
No — wall brackets are not designed to hold an extinguisher in a moving vehicle. They have no secure locking mechanism and the extinguisher will come loose over bumps or in a crash. Vehicle brackets use a positive locking grip (over-centre, strap, or cannon-style clamp) that holds the extinguisher firmly at all times while allowing quick one-handed release in an emergency.
Most brackets mount with 2–4 bolts through a flat surface. Choose a location that’s accessible from inside the cab or from outside the vehicle — bull bars, trays, roll cages, and cab walls are common mounting points. The extinguisher should be mounted upright where possible and positioned so the handle is reachable without unbuckling or climbing over obstacles. Rubber strap and double strap brackets can sometimes be cable-tied or clamped in place without drilling.
