Description

The most popular CO2 size for commercial use. The 5kg CO2 is specified for server rooms, data centres, electrical switchboards, and large offices where a clean, residue-free agent is critical. CO2 extinguishes by displacing oxygen and then simply evaporates — leaving no powder, foam, or chemical residue to damage sensitive equipment. Lightweight aluminium cylinder. Approved and manufactured to AS/NZS 1841.6.

Compare sizes: the 5kg is the most popular commercial CO2 size. For smaller offices the 3.5kg CO2 may suit. See the full CO2 extinguisher range, or for general-purpose coverage compare our dry chemical ABE extinguishers.

Compliance & Servicing

Manufactured to AS/NZS 1841.6. In accordance with AS 1851, CO2 extinguishers must be inspected every 6 months and serviced annually by a licensed fire protection technician. CO2 cylinders also require periodic hydrostatic pressure testing — your technician will advise on the schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between the 3.5kg and 5kg CO2?
The 5kg carries more CO2 agent, giving a longer discharge time — the preferred choice for larger server rooms, data centres, and commercial spaces. The 3.5kg is more compact and suited to smaller offices, labs, or hospitality environments where space is limited.

Is CO2 safe to use in enclosed spaces?
CO2 displaces oxygen, so it must be used with care in poorly ventilated or very small enclosed spaces. Always vacate the area after discharge and ventilate thoroughly before re-entering. In properly ventilated rooms, CO2 is a safe and effective agent.

Where is a 5kg CO2 commonly required?
Server rooms and data centres, electrical switchboards, control rooms, laboratories, food prep areas, and large commercial offices. AS 2444 and your fire protection technician will specify the correct quantity and placement.

How often does a CO2 extinguisher need to be serviced?
Every 6 months for inspection and annually for a full service, as required by AS 1851. CO2 cylinders also require periodic hydrostatic pressure testing. A maintenance test tag is included.

Does it come with a wall bracket?
Yes — a wall bracket and maintenance test tag are included as standard.
