Description

A compact 2 litre wet chemical fire extinguisher specifically designed for kitchen fires involving cooking oils and fats (Class F). The wet chemical agent reacts with hot oil to form a soapy foam crust (saponification) that seals the fire and prevents reignition — the same chemistry as the larger 7 litre unit, in a smaller form factor suited to domestic kitchens, small cafes, and food vans. Also rated for Class A fires. Approved and manufactured to AS/NZS 1841.3.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between the 2L and 7L wet chemical?
The 2L is designed for domestic kitchens and small cooking fires — stovetop pans and small appliances. The 7L is the standard commercial kitchen unit, rated for larger fryers and multiple cooking stations. For a home kitchen stovetop, the 2L provides sufficient coverage. For any commercial deep fryer, the 7L (or larger) is required under Australian standards.

Do I need a wet chemical extinguisher if I already have an ABE?
For home kitchens with cooking oil risk, a wet chemical extinguisher is the safest dedicated option. While an ABE can handle small stovetop Class A fires, it is not rated for Class F cooking oil fires and can make an oil fire worse if applied incorrectly. A wet chemical extinguisher or fire blanket is recommended for any kitchen with oil cooking.

Can wet chemical be used on a gas fire?
No — wet chemical is rated for Class F (cooking oil) and Class A fires only. It is not suitable for gas fires (Class C), flammable liquids (Class B), or live electrical equipment (Class E). For mixed-risk environments, you may need additional extinguisher types.

How often does it need to be serviced?
Every 6 months for inspection and annually for a full service by a licensed fire protection technician, as required by AS 1851. A maintenance test tag is included.

Does it come with a wall bracket?
Yes — a wall bracket and maintenance test tag are included as standard.
