Product Categories

Hydrant Landing Valves

Inlet valves that allow fire brigade pumpers to connect to your building’s internal hydrant system. Available in all state-specific coupling patterns: NSW, MFB (Victoria metro), CFA (Victoria country), QRT (Queensland), SA, BIC, and STORZ. Must match the coupling standard used by your local fire brigade. See the Landing Valves subcategory for the full range.

Blanking Caps and Plugs

Caps and plugs are fitted to hydrant outlet connections to prevent dust, debris, and unauthorised access when the hydrant is not in use. Available in brass and plastic, in all Australian state coupling patterns. Brass caps are preferred for permanent outdoor installations — plastic caps are suitable for indoor or short-term use. State-specific patterns: NSW/MFB, CFA, QLD, SA, British Instantaneous, and STORZ 65mm.

Hose Straps

Punched leather hose straps are used to secure rolled fire hoses in bundles for storage and transport. Available in multiple lengths (350mm–600mm) and widths (13mm and 25mm). Standard issue with most hose storage systems; spares are required when straps wear or break.

Hydrant Locking Wheels

Locking wheels and G-locks restrict unauthorised operation of hydrant valves. Plastic locking wheels are used on low-security sites; G-lock versions include a keyed padlock. Compatible with standard hydrant wheel-operated gate valves.

Compliance: AS 2419

AS 2419 is the Australian standard for fire hydrant installations. It governs landing valve type and placement, blanking cap requirements, hydrant system testing, and the maintenance obligations of building owners. Key requirements:

  • Blanking caps must be fitted to all open hydrant outlets at all times
  • Landing valves must match the coupling standard of the local fire brigade
  • All hydrant system components must be inspected and tested under AS 1851 every 6 months
  • All hydrant installations must be carried out and certified by a licensed fire protection installer

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a hydrant blanking cap used for?

A blanking cap is fitted to the outlet connection of a fire hydrant when it’s not in use. It prevents dust, insects, and debris from entering the hydrant body, and stops unauthorised people from accessing or tampering with the outlet. AS 2419 requires blanking caps on all open hydrant outlets at all times.

How do I know which blanking cap I need?

Blanking caps are state-specific — they must match the coupling type on your hydrant outlet. NSW/MFB outlets require NSW-pattern caps, Victorian country properties require CFA-pattern caps, and Queensland buildings require QRT or QLD-pattern caps. If unsure, check the existing cap on the hydrant outlet or consult your fire protection installer.

What size hose strap do I need?

Hose strap length depends on the diameter of the hose bundle. For a single 38mm hose coil, a 350mm–450mm strap is usually sufficient. For 64mm or 70mm hose or multiple coils, use a 550mm–600mm strap. The strap should wrap around the coil and allow the buckle to close securely with some slack remaining.
